Recomendations for small scale equipment

Postby Absinthe on Wed Nov 25, 2009 3:41 pm

I am interested in beginning to steam distill essential oils. I have been considering several options in equiment, but would like to have some expert opinions.

I have looked at the setup sold at HeartMagic as well as the one sold at pelletlab and FloraGenics

These are all lab glass systems, one is a verticle system where the steam generator is connected to the bottom of the alembic which is attached to the still head above that etc...

The other has a steam generator that enters a flask via tube to the bottom then the steam enters the condenser from the top.

On the other hand, I have considered simply adding a fine stainless collander to a pressure cooker and condensing the steam in a worm bucket.

Any other suggestions? Anyone use and/or like/hate any of these systems?
